SAIMA’s Mike McGovern to Lead an ISC East Security Discussion Panel on Security Product Safety/Penetration Certifications
ISC East 2024 has announced an opening day panel discussion on Safety & Security Certification Ratings, to be moderated by Mike McGovern, PSP, VP of Secure Entry/Exit Solutions, of SAIMA America. The session’s panels include experts in security design, entrance safety, and building fortification.
Scheduled panelists are:
- Frank Scala PSP, Principal, Security, and Technology – Acentech
- Tommy Trybus, Technical Project Manager, Physical Security – BRE Group
- Rick Snelling, VP & General Manager – Armortex
Security product safety protection ratings in doorways, security entry, storefronts, and building fortification will be addressed. The panelists will help demystify safety certifications and penetration ratings critical to the design of architectural security entrance control and general construction. Typical security entry devices will be addressed, such as turnstiles, portals, speed gates/speed lanes, security revolvers, and automatic doors and storefronts. Typical bullet, blast, and forced entry resistant features will be discussed.
Ballistics standards such as UL752 BR (Bullet Resistant) ratings vs NIJ (National Institute of Justice) will be reviewed and compared (bullet resistance vs bulletproof ratings). Panelists will discuss security door resistance classes (RC3,4) EN 1627 vs. LPS 1175 and other standards classes and the regional/global differences in standards required. Panelists will take questions and open the discussion for all attendees to participate.
